Chain Cable Pattern

The chain cable I used on this sweater didn’t have a written version; I transcribed it from this video tutorial. So here are the instructions in case they’re helpful to anyone else:

9 stitches across

  1. Knit right side/purl wrong side for nine rows
  2. Chain (RS):
    1. K 6, turn, (slip 1, p 2, turn, slip 1, k 2, turn) x 2, slip 1, p 2, turn
    2. Transfer 3 stitches to cable needle and hold in front
    3. Put next three stitches on cable needle also and hold in front
    4. Transfer 3 stitches from right needle to left needle
    5. Knit last three stitches from cable needle
    6. Knit first three stitches (with short rows) from cable needle
    7. Knit 3

I alternated it with seed stitch panels; the knitter in the tutorial does something else. It’s very fiddly and takes a lot of counting between the crossings and for the short rows, but it came out looking so good!
